01 — The work
The sky changed to the naked eye: satellites cross it now. Vínculos gives the visitor a little control over that change.
You point at the sky with your index finger and, with a sharp flick, launch a satellite that travels across the screen connecting stars. Each star it touches sounds with its own synthesizer voice, and the connections stay drawn as constellations.
Like the people who pass through our lives: some stay, and they bond. Vínculo means bond, link.

02 — The story
Where it comes from
One night, away from the city, I looked up and saw that the sky had changed: new lights crossing it, satellites, many of them. All the skies of humanity have changed, and no one asked us.
I thought they looked like people passing through other people's lives. They appear, draw a line, touch other points and move on. I wanted some control over that change: to point at the sky and launch them myself, to see how they bond with the stars and with each other.
To build it I had to learn hand tracking, sound and physics inside the browser. That search also gave birth to Repique Code.
03 — The artist

Damián Lafferranderie Peña (Maldonado, Uruguay, 1983) is a Uruguayan artist and creator based in Barcelona. He works at the crossroads of body, technology and cultural heritage. His interactive works run in the web browser and use the camera as their only sensor: the visitor's hands become the instrument.
He practised law in Uruguay for fifteen years. In 2023 the wave of artificial intelligence carried him to Barcelona, where he devotes himself fully to this revolution, and technology allowed him to make this kind of art.
He is the founder of Estudioprompt, an artificial intelligence studio whose purpose is to minimise the risks and maximise the benefits of this revolution. The works aim to be collaborative, open source and dynamic. In this space we are always looking for intelligent futures.
